Well Kip and I went to the Crocker Art Museum here in Sacramento, CA as I mentioned yesterday, to see a exhibit of Utagawa Kunisadas Japanese Wood Block prints. ((just amazing!))

I couldn't take any pictures inside of the Traveling Exhibits (one of them being the Japanese prints) but I could take pictures of any of the art that was in the permanant collection of the Museum---and that was plenty! I think I took over 150 pictures and only about 8-10 didn't turn out. :)
Of course I will just pick out the best from the group---ya phew! you won't have to look at a 6 hour slide show.
Here's one of the sculptures outside...I think its one of Gerald Walburgs? (i forgot to look) He's the same artist that did this big "Indo Arch" sculpture at the shopping mall downtown.

The gallery is located across from a park like setting and is made up of a beautiful old Victorian house (well more like a mansion) They've added more modern wings to it over the years. See those two steel beams shooting up outta the lawn? thats actually a pretty newly acquired scupture. Here's a close up of it.

You can see a modern part of the building in between the original structure above. ...and below that's Kip rushing ahead to get outta the picture.

Here's the front entrance...

...and the beautiful front door, that was about 12-14 feet high?

When you walked inside the architectual detail was just yummie. The ceilings, the tile floors the beautiful wood railings...

This is the main parlor...

I loved the floors...

K...more later. I just wanted to show you how pretty it was inside. Oh! and it's free to the public from 10am - 1pm on Sundays. So don't get there at 1:05pm like we did :(---oh well, it was worth the $6.00 each to get in. I think we were there two hours looking at everything.
(more to follow)
Happy Monday too you all.

Lo, is that not too far from Old Town? I think we drove past it on our visit there a few years back. It sure looks interesting from what you've put up so far!
Posted by: dan on April 25, 2005 05:42 PMYes Dan, you can even walk to it from Old Sac. So you should definately go to it next time you come up here. Hey! call me and I will meet you there? :)

I wish.......
However, something so big would indeed require a few folks to help me keep it clean............
Thanks for the pictures, Lolo, I love to visit mansions that have turned into museum. It is a truly a double treat.....
