Fisherman's Stew

Hey! wanna see what I made tonight for dinner? Yes you do! :) Even though it's 91 degrees outside right at this very moment, I decided to make... Fisherman's Stew!!!...via the Crock Pot O'Love. (recipe w/pictures follows) I know...pretty silly huh. Who wants soup on a hot summer day? I did!!

Here's the stuff for it:
1-28oz can of chopped, peeled tomatoes
1- 6oz. can Tomato Paste
2 cups water
2 cups dry white wine
1 medium onion chopped
1 medium green bell pepper (I left it out of mine because Kip can't deal them...)
3 celery ribs, chopped
2 garlic cloves (crushed through a press)
2 teas. dried basil
1 teas. dried thyme leaves
1 bay leaf
1/2 teas. salt and pepper
---------------------
Pinch of sugar
1/2 pound shelled and devined raw medium shrimp
1/2 pound small scallops
1 lb. halibut steak, skinned, boned and cut into 3/4" chunks
1 (4oz) can or jar mushroom stems and pieces or sliced mushrooms, rinsed and drained. **I used fresh mushrooms)
3 T Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Put the first 12 ingredients into a large bowl, mix and dump into a crock pot.
Cook on low for 6 hours.

After the 6 hours is up, turn the crock pot to low, remove the bayleaf and add the pinch of sugar, the fish, stir and cover.

Ok. gang...I started my recipe a little late today so to hurry things along a bit during the last 30 mins. instead of using the crockpot on high...I transferred everything to a big pot on the stove and simmered it for 20 mins. It worked beautifully. :)

Here's the finished dish. Next time I will have some garlic bread with it too. Kip said it was awesome! (yea me)

Have a great Sunday night all!
Bon Appetit!--Lo**

I think that sounds like a perfect summer meal. Did you have sour dough bread slices with it? Sweeet!

Is that bowl you use to blend all of your fine ingredients in, plastic or ceramic or marble or corion or granite or bakelite or what? I like it.

Hi all! Glad you liked the recipe.

Yes Joe, you can have that shrimpie :)

Thanks Erikie and Jenn... and Jenn that mixing bowl is plastic. It's a TexasWare bowl--- I collect them :) 9Is there something I don't collect?) The more colorful and speckled the more expensive they seem to be. I'll have to show you guys my collection someday. I know a weird thing to collect Huh? I use them everyday.

Here's one on ebay---these are the type I like...the really speckled swirly ones.
