...to be looking through the antique shops, so instead I drove the little car over to another favorite nursrey in Carmichael. (shushhhhh don't tell Kip I put plants in the front seat of the car-- that's a big no no. :P) Gawd! I need to drive that car more often---it's so much fun! I have a sunburned nose. (I usually drive a big tank of a car with bird poops on it, spilled coffee and Taco Bell stains.)
It's still early here (in the season) for the full array of plants I usually see at the nursrey, but they still had a ton of bedding plants and all the fruit trees were in blossom--as well as lot's of other stuff. This particular nursrey is where I get all my container gardening tips. They combine the most unsual varieties, colors and textures. Someone has an excellent eye! Anyway, here are a few pictures of my day.
First off, some of the display at the side entrance....see that Japanese Maple I love so much with the bright red branches? (yep, a Coral Bark Maple) and that's a tulip tree next to it on the right.
Then a view inside.
Here are some cool oriental fountain vases at a mere $2400 each? yes... poo is right. Geez they aren't THAT great.
This big metal gorilla (that's for you Joe, monkey man) hiding in the bamboo was kinda cool ($2000.00) :P
Then there was this very cool vase that came up to my waist. I didn't see a price on it, prolly a million something...
This picture is for Kitty...Moon and Suns in a bird bath. I almost bought one of the moons $19.00---now we're talkin'.
Here's a bunch of pansies. My camera freaked out on trying to capture the color. It's a very pretty blue violet in person.
and some more....
Pigs and gargoyle statues...did I spell gargoyles right? (Prob. not :( )
This shot of the angel water fountain is for you Erikie Parkie!
Ok...ready for the best picture???
Here you go!
I got the rest of my planter boxes planted today. Such a green thumb egh?
Ok, now don't forget my special Sunday recipe follows this entry!

Thanks for the fun early spring flower pictures Lori! Spring will be here in no time. That Coral Bark Maple looks so pretty. I'll have to look into one of those. Don't think the deer like Japanese maples.
What flower is the "best picture?"
Looking forward to the new recipe. :~)

Posted by: Lori on March 7, 2004 06:09 PMLori, thank you for the gorgeous COLOR - I really begin to miss and long for color at this time of the year - and today it SNOWED!!! So, I will leave you with a poem I wrote a year or so ago - at a challenge from my oldest daughter. Enjoy:
Color, give me Color!
(c) the PurpleMoose (in her RL name)
It’s a sad world
that’s tinted in gray
with no hint of color to be seen
where are the blues
the yellows and reds
where the freshness of spring green?
To look into eyes
that see only shades of gray
is to look into emptiness at best
to see no color
no variation of hue
is a fate I cannot guess
For it is color
not the darksome grays
that sets my world afire
it is vibrant shades
of rain-bowed brilliance
that I seek before I retire
Into each world
some gray must fall
but I pray there will be colors behind
the gray of your day
to brighten the nighttime too
colors for your soul and mind
>..<
